Florida Driver's Licenses Have New ID Requirements
Starting Jan. 1 [2010], new license applicants and in-person renewals need two proofs of residence, proof of Social Security number and a primary form of identification. An existing license or identification card does not qualify.
More information about the types of documentation that can be used to prove your identity to the State of Florida can be found at the Official Website of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
According to the article, producing your papers (please) is a measure enacted by the Federal Government “to reduce fraud and combat terrorism.”
